Kunz and Tykociner were close friends and are buried next to each other in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Kunz also worked with astronomer Joel Stebbins. Although Stebbins left Illinois in 1922, Stebbins and Kunz remained friends and sometime in the 1930s, Stebbins donated $500 to Illinois to support Tykociner's work.

Re: Capturing and Preserving Engineering’s History

Hi Bethany, i have journal entries from my father, John T. Holliday Jr,, a mechanical engineering graduate who left for WWII during his senior year. He returned to U of I after the war to complete his degree. His journal includes stories of the college, a few professors and Lloyd Smith, who served on the Manhattan Project and was one of my father's roommates. If you'd be interested in having a copy of his journal entries, let me know. Doyle A. Moore (one of the clubs original board members) wrote and published a description of the Autoharp during his time spent in the Campus Folk song club. Doyle A. Moore is still living in Champaign. I have several interviews with Doyle about the records for Campus Folksong club and other interesting discussions. Doyle Designed the covers for the albums put out by the Campus Folksong club and many covers for Folkways through his friendship with Mike Seegar. Doyle tells some great stories about how they actual got some of these hillbilly musicians to come to Champaign for performances. Doyle was also one of the musicians on the first record put out by the Folk Song Club. Doyle is a special mentor to me and one of the reasons I pursued Old Time on the banjo. He gave me the original artwork for the cover of Philo Glee and Mandolin Society's album. Anyone interested to know more feel free to contact me. I so love the admission price to get into the concerts
and lectures....$1.25, you too can make tens of dollars in old time music:) Christine Breen

Re: Halloween Post: Hugh Atkinson

I believe it was taken at Ohio State University.

Re: Halloween Post: Hugh Atkinson

The Atkinson photo doesn't look like it was taken at Illinois.
